Mark Cuban rips the Donald
My internet adventures have led me to sites that have made me smile, cry, be happy, and get sad. It’s a rarity to come across one that makes me go, “oh damn!” That’s what happened today as I read Mark Cuban’s blog, and specifically a post titled “Donald- Need a job?”
The basis of Cuban’s latest verbal diarrhea is that the Apprentice was recently canceled, and apparently his casino’s are in some sort of trouble (who the hell knows what he’s talking about on this one). To me, when a casino is in financial trouble, it’s generally for not making enough millions… but seriously, what’s the difference between making $100 million a year versus $80 million? Well, the answer is obviously $20 million- but that’s not the point. The point is that it isn’t enough to ridicule a man for being a failure and suggesting that your pompous-ass can offer to hire him.
I’m actually a fan of Mark Cuban’s, not because he some brilliant guy who saved the world or anything, but because he happens to be one lucky dude who hit the internet jackpot before the bubble went pop. He’s also a lucky dude who enjoys his money and does what I would do… buy sports teams, jets, and vacation more days than he actually works. That’s why I also like Paul Allen and Richard, excuse me, Sir Richard Branson.
Why am I annoyed with the guy then? Well for starters, I think I really should bring up his own reality show, The Benefactor (from ABC) that lasted all of 5 minutes before people realized how stupid it was. How is he going to poke fun at a guy who created one of the most successful reality shows in history? Well, like I said, verbal diarrhea.
I’d even get past the whole reality show ordeal, but then the kicker gets me. Mark Cuban is rich. Rich people hire people. It’s the way of the world. But what isn’t the way of the world is a guy worth $2.3 billion making fun of and offering another guy worth MORE than he is ($2.9 billion) a job in a public forum.
Shame shame… looks like someone needs to put in some overtime at the neighborhood Dairy Queen to catch up…

Donald - Need a job ?

What in the world is Donald Trump going to do now ? He "quit" The Apprentice after a 3 year run. His casinos once again are having troubles. He is at real risk of transitioning from THE Donald.to, "you remember, THAT Donald" .
I actually feel sorry for the guy. Seriously, what could his future hold ? We live in a culture where celebrity out of the limelight is celebrity quickly forgotten. Its a peril for those whose only skill is being a celebrity and I'm sad to say, I think Donald Trump has fallen from businessperson who goes back to work as some of us are, into the category of celebrity without a TV show .
Is there any question that "You're fired" will be listed right next to "Is that your final answer" in reality show trivia history ? (I know, insert your Benefactor slams here..).
But have no fear Donald, I have some options for you:
1. You can travel the world over and give speeches on brand dilution. Explaining how a brand that was once synonymous with the finest real estate in the world is now synonymous with a canceled TV show, water, steaks, a doll, mortgages, vodka, a perfume, a game and an online University that tries to sell questionable advice and products and is one of the biggest spammers on the Internet.
2. You can go to VH1 and ask to be on the celebrity fitness show.
3. They need a replacement for Rosie on The View....
4. Also on VH1, I Love New York will be starting up production again. I promise you that you would get record ratings if you become one of her potential boyfriends.
5. You could produce the Broadway version of "Raising Arizona". You could play H.I. and work with your new born son, riding his coattails as the star of the show.
6. Could anyone play the part of Judge Smails in a remake of Caddyshack better than you ?
Or best of all, you can go back to NBC and ask for one more season of The Apprentice. Me against You. We let the audience pick the tasks and our teams and we let Rosie O'Donnell and Melania be in the boardroom and decide who wins or loses. I would do it just to see those two sitting next to each other.
What do you say ? You up for it ?
