About
Lets see… this is tough describing myself, but why not give it a shot. How about starting with the basics-
I’m a 24 year-old grad student at Seattle University pursuing a joint JD/MIB degree (MIB is Masters in International Business; basically an MBA with an international focus and requirements). I find SU to be a nice but small school, especially since I did my undergrad at University of Washington (U-Dub!) with around 50,000 students.
While at UW, I was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, the largest national fraternity (or so they tell me), with alumni that include John Goodman, Dr. Suess, and Dave Thomas (yes, the founder of Wendy’s). We get this whole book about SigEp history and values that has a section in the back devoted to prominent alumni. I was also a memeber of the Pakistani Students Association (PSA), the Muslim Students Association (MSA), Integrate Diversity Club, and South Asian Commission. I held officer positions in most of these organizations, which probably hurt my GPA in the long run, but it was truly worth it. Oh yeah, I was a Political Science major, something I really enjoyed!
I’m an avid traveler. I can’t recall the exact number of countries I’ve been to, but it’s more than 25 and less than 30, plus a “disputed territory” (Kashmir). Surprisingly, I still haven’t been to South America! My father and I planned a trip to Machu Pichu for this past winter, but plans changed last minute, postponing it for a few more months.
I spent the summer of 2006 in Kashmir on an earthquake reconstruction mission with Impak. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Everything about it was remarkable- from dodging landslides as they were happening, getting attacked by a cobra, and repairing a 6″ skull fracture with no electricity and anesthetics. All of this while in a place Alexander the Great considered Eden on Earth.
While in Kashmir, I got clearance with the UN and Kashmir Election Commissioner to be an official International Elections Monitor, yup, just like Jimmy Carter, but without the press. Here’s my official pass for the polling stations. How many 24 year olds can boast about that?
These days I’m busy with school and working on several different projects and entreprenurial ventures. See my “Current Projects” page for more details.
And that’s pretty much it!… now you know all there is to know about me. If there’s anything you really want to ask me, just drop me an email.
